Job Description
Good exposure to the following Tivoli modules is required
Tivoli Framework
Tivoli Distributed Monitoring
Tivoli Enterprise Console
Tivoli Configuration Manager (Inventory & Software Distribution)
Tivoli NetView
Various Tivoli agents
Should have worked as a part of a team involved in the implementation of Tivoli solutions.
Should have handled the responsibilities listed in 'job requirements' below in at least 2 projects in a fairly complex IT setup.
Should have very good understanding of the IT infrastructure area
Server hardware
OS: Windows, Solaris, HPUX etc
Networks: LAN, WAN - Cisco, 3Com etc
Messaging: MS-Exchange, sendmail, Lotus Notes
Should have worked as a Customer Support Engineer / System Integration Engineer / System or Network Administrator & acquired hands-on experience in the above areas in large & complex setups
o Should be proficient-skilled in at least one of the above areas
Should have good understanding of infrastructure management processes; good understanding of process framework like ITIL is needed.
Knowledge of Unix shell scripting is a must (Perl preferred).
Knowledge of database (Oracle / MS-SQL) is preferred
Good communication (written & oral), presentation skills, quick learner, self-initiated, team player, willing to travel, open to work in shifts
Job Requirements:
Installation of Tivoli modules on the management server - Windows & Unix (Solaris / HPUX) platforms
Configuration of Oracle / SQL / DB2 database for Tivoli
Installation of Tivoli agents - Windows servers, Solaris servers, HPUX servers & AIX servers - defining the parameters to be monitored
Apply patches & licenses as needed
Discovery of the managed elements (servers, network devices); creating maps as per client requirements, applying filters as needed
Configure event console as per the user requirement, define correlation rules & actions as needed - in built as well as custom scripts (shell, Perl)
Installation & configuration of Tivoli Performance agents & manager
Installation & configuration of various Tivoli modules
Generation of various reports - built-in as well as using report generation tools like Crystal Reports
Understand customer requirements, analyze those & convert them to appropriate implementation in Tivoli
Trouble shooting problems faced during implementations & coordinating with IBM Technical support for any issues faced
Documentation of the implementation / customization done in the projects
